Educated in Commercial, Consular and Financial Sciences (HHA) but the weekend job as dance instructor soon turned into a passion with the title of Belgian Champion Fitness Teams HipHop/Funk for Cadets and Vice Belgian Champion with the Juniors in 2002, an organization of the Fitnessorganisatie as top of the bill.
On a fitness convention in 2001 I took my first Pilates class and got hooked as I experienced what this form of body conditioning does to a person. Having a hyper mobile pelvis, my back often “got stuck? as a result of my hip hop classes. I had to visit an osteopath regularly to manipulate my spine. Since doing Pilates, these visits have become rare! The first education that I took was in Ground Control Pilates but with method many questions remained unanswered and the control over the abdominals wasn’t achieved...
Stott Pilates® offered the solution: thanks to their anatomical view on the original exercices and handy techniques to find and activate the right muscles, you rapidly build up the strenght in your center (deep abdominals and pelvis).
After intensive educations in the Stockholm Pilates Center(Sweden) and the Stott Training Center in Toronto (Canada), I successfully completed theoretical and practical exams. But the education doesn’t end there: in order to grow and stay certified you need to follow workshops, continued educations and take classes yourself with Instructor Trainers. It is clear that you don’t become a Pilates Trainer overnight after a week course, it is a long process where you learn every day and have to invest in! After 2,5 years of only matwork classes, the ESD Pilates Studio opened in November 2005 in Grobbendonk offering the complete Pilates Method.
